KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Mechanic and Maintenance Duties

  • Conduct inspections on operational motors, perform road tests, and utilize computerized diagnostic tools to identify and isolate faults.
  • Diagnose issues during all preventative maintenance services.
  • Adjust, repair, or replace components of commercial transport truck systems, including chassis, frame, cab, body, engine, drive train, air brakes, steering, and various systems using hand tools and equipment.
  • Collaborate with supervisors to review work orders and confirm repairs.
  • Execute scheduled maintenance tasks, including oil changes, lubrication, and tune-ups.
  • Work with various engine types and equipment.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by management.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Mentor and supervise team members to enhance work quality and reduce rework.
  • Assist in planning and coordinating maintenance activities with the Fleet Maintenance Planner and Fleet Dispatcher.
  • Engage in monthly Toolbox Meetings to promote communication and share safety protocol updates.
  • Participate in recruitment and performance management processes.
  • Cultivate a positive workplace culture aligned with company values.
  • Adhere to the company Code of Conduct and all organizational policies.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid Alberta Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic Certificate, Heavy Equipment Technician Certificate, or Interprovincial Heavy Duty Mechanic Red Seal Certification.
  • 6-8 years of experience in commercial transport truck repairs or a related field.
  • Previous experience in a leadership role is advantageous.
  • Proficient in diagnosing and troubleshooting using manufacturer software.
  • Ability to interpret diagrams, schematics, and manuals.
  • A valid Class 3 Driver's License and Alberta Commercial Vehicle Safety Inspection License are beneficial.
  • Capability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Willingness to perform repetitive physical tasks.
  • Adaptability to various working conditions.
