Role Summary
The On-Site Administrator plays a crucial role within the hospital's administrative framework, offering both administrative and clinical support to staff during non-business hours. This position is ideal for individuals seeking leadership opportunities and a comprehensive understanding of hospital operations and clinical programs. The On-Site Administrator holds significant authority and autonomy, making informed decisions that align with the hospital's objectives while fostering an environment that embodies the institution's Mission, Vision, Purpose, Principles, and Values.
Key Responsibilities
- Overseeing patient flow and managing hospital capacity;
- Collaborating with various units to enhance hospital and nursing operations, including the assignment and direction of clinical and non-clinical staff;
- Ensuring the delivery of care is grounded in theory and evidence-based practices;
- Facilitating effective communication and serving as a consultant to healthcare professionals and community members;
- Promoting professional development for oneself and supporting the growth of staff;
- Ensuring compliance with quality improvement initiatives;
- Responding to emergencies and acting as the site commander during critical situations;
- Performing additional duties as required, consistent with the role.
- Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing required; Master's degree preferred;
- Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.), Level II: Basic Rescuer;
- Current certificate of competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario;
- Up to five years of relevant experience, including three years of direct patient care;
- Two years of progressive administrative experience in a nursing context;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with effective interpersonal and negotiation abilities;
- Proficient time management and organizational skills;
- Analytical and problem-solving skills based on a comprehensive understanding of hospital operations;
- Knowledge of professional standards and quality assurance guidelines;
- Familiarity with relevant legislation affecting the role;
- Ability to work effectively as both a team leader and member;
- Commitment to ongoing education and professional development;
- Flexibility to adapt to changing environments and demands;
- Experience in a unionized setting is preferred;
- Critical care experience is advantageous;
- Membership in a relevant specialty organization is preferred;
- Availability for evening and night shifts is essential;
- Compliance with vaccination requirements is mandatory.
