Computational Biology and Software Development Co-op Position

About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Co-op Student to join our Computational Biology team at BioTalent Canada. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supporting computational biology and machine learning tasks related to drug discovery research.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and optimize machine learning algorithms for the analysis of large-scale protein datasets.
- Train, validate, and fine-tune machine learning models to extract meaningful patterns and insights from biological data.
- Implement strategies for model validation and performance evaluation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including computational biologists, protein engineers, and software developers, to understand biological problems and contribute to multidisciplinary projects.
- Communicate findings and results to both technical and non-technical audiences, fostering effective collaboration across teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in computational biology, machine learning, computer science, or a related field.
- Strong programming skills, especially in Python and bash.
- Experience with using large language models.
- General knowledge about protein biochemistry is an asset.
