Job Summary

We are seeking a Co-op Student to join our Computational Biology team at Westfield Electroplating Company, Inc.

The successful candidate will support computational biology and machine learning tasks related to drug discovery research, implementing, optimizing, and training large-scale machine learning algorithms and language models.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement machine learning algorithms for the analysis of large-scale protein datasets.
  • Train, validate, and fine-tune machine learning models to extract meaningful patterns and insights from biological data.
  • Implement strategies for model validation and performance evaluation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand biological problems and contribute to multidisciplinary projects.
  • Document code, methodologies, and results comprehensively to facilitate knowledge sharing and reproducibility.
  • Present findings and results to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in computational biology, machine learning, computer science or a related field.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and bash.
  • Proven experience with machine learning frameworks and proficiency in relevant libraries.
  • Experience with using large language models.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms and distributed computing.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to translate biological questions into machine learning solutions.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • General knowledge about protein biochemistry is an asset.
