About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Visual Effects Artist to join our team at Kabam. As a key contributor to our game development teams, you will be responsible for crafting visually striking and engaging Visual Effects that enhance the overall player experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the VFX team to establish a consistent Visual Effects art style that aligns with the game's artistic vision.
  • Design and implement a wide range of high-quality Visual Effects, including gameplay character effects, cinematic effects, environment effects, combat effects, and more.
  • Work closely with the Art and Design teams to ensure Visual Effects alignment with artistic vision and gameplay.
  • Develop shaders and rendering techniques with the Lead VFX Artist and Rendering Engineers.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency in the Visual Effects production process.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in a related field, such as computer graphics or animation.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating skills in Visual Effects creation.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard tools such as Maya, Houdini, Unity, Unreal, Photoshop, After Effects, Substance Designer, and more.
  • Strong understanding of Visual Effects principles, animation, and real-time rendering techniques.
  • Knowledge of 3D modeling and texturing for Visual Effects.
  • Understanding of Visual Effects performance optimization and rendering & shader techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of game engines and technical constraints of real-time rendering.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and keen eye for visual quality.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Passion for gaming and deep understanding of different gaming genres.
Compensation

The salary range for this position is between CAD$77,600 - $116,400 per year, specific to candidates located in British Columbia. The salary of the successful candidate will vary within this range based on their knowledge, skills, and abilities.
