About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Recreation Coordinator to join our team at Shannex Incorporated. As a Recreation Coordinator, you will play a vital role in enhancing the overall wellness and quality of life for our residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with residents and their families to assess their engagement in meaningful activities and develop strategies to enhance their overall wellness.
  • Develop, analyze, and review resident-directed individualized and community-wide programs to ensure they meet the residents' needs and expectations.
  • Foster partnerships with local businesses and community groups to facilitate program development and implementation.
  • Evaluate programming to ensure it is meeting the residents' needs and expectations, and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Collaborate with the Recreation team to develop a comprehensive plan for full-scope wellness programming for all service lines.
  • Oversee the orientation process for new residents to the recreation department, services offered, and activities/amenities available to them.
  • Oversee Recreation services for special functions, ensuring organization, cost efficiency, and appropriate staffing.

About You

We are looking for a highly motivated and compassionate individual who is passionate about working with seniors and has experience in programming and planning for seniors in a recreational environment. You will possess:

  • A diploma or degree in recreation or a related discipline.
  • A passion for creative arts such as music therapy, art therapy, or artistic expression.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as strong computer skills.
  • Possession of a Class G Driver's License is an asset.
  • Proof of current, valid CPR and First Aid Certification is required.
  • Ability to provide a clear criminal record and vulnerable sector check upon hire.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and shifts, including some weekends and evenings.
  • A passion for the healthcare sector and/or ensuring seniors have access to quality accommodations, services, and care.
