Job Overview:
The Activation Therapist plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for residents through tailored recreational programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement specialized programs aimed at boosting residents' self-esteem and overall well-being.
- Conduct thorough assessments to identify the recreational and leisure needs of residents.
- Coordinate and deliver effective outreach services to engage residents.
- Support the Rehabilitation Assistant in executing restorative care programs and activities.
- Foster positive relationships and maintain effective communication with residents, staff, volunteers, and visitors.
- Participate in ongoing education sessions, staff meetings, and workshops to enhance professional development.
- Maintain accurate records in compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Fulfill all responsibilities as outlined in the Activation Therapist job description.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies, Therapeutic Recreation, Kinesiology, Gerontology, or a related field.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification is mandatory.
- Proficient computer skills are essential.
- Demonstrated teaching abilities to effectively guide residents and their families.
- Ability to work independently, showcasing innovation and strong organizational skills.
- Physical capability to perform all assigned duties.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including days, evenings, and weekends.
- Food Handler Certification is required.
- Smart Serve Certificate is necessary.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks and manage scheduling effectively.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact appropriately with residents, staff, volunteers, and visitors.
- Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the workplace.
