Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Cardiology Technologist to join our team at BC Children's Hospital. As a key member of our non-invasive cardiology department, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tests and procedures to diagnose and treat cardiovascular conditions in children and youth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct ECGs, cardiopulmonary exercise tests, and treadmill stress tests on patients, analyzing data and recording relevant information for interpretation by cardiologists.
  • Perform holter monitoring, scanning, and analysis for 24/48 hour recordings, instructing patients and parents on the use of cardiac screeners and recording trans-telephonic transmissions.
  • Scan and analyze ECG, stress, and/or holter reports, informing cardiologists of any abnormalities and maintaining equipment by cleaning and replenishing supplies.
  • Replenish supplies for the Cardiac Pacing and Electrophysiology Lab, attending Quality Assurance and Quality Control Rounds as required.
  • Provide information on tests and procedures to physicians as needed, maintaining active charts and retrieving, sorting, and filing old charts in storage.
  • Receive patients and visitors, answer phones, and take and relay messages, performing other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Graduation from a recognized program in Cardiology Technology.
  • One year of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Current registration with the Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists.
  • Eligibility for membership with the Cardiology Technologist Association of British Columbia (CTABC).
  • Current qualifications in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of and ability to operate all equipment related to the position, including windows-based software packages such as word processing.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to working with new technology.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with all levels of staff and patients.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with others effectively and function as an active member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize workload and set priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach and provide instructions.
  • Demonstrated physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with children and families.
  • Commitment to developing knowledge and understanding of legislative obligations and provincial commitments found in foundational documents, including Truth & Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), Reclaiming Power and Place Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls Calls for Justice (2019), the Declaration Act Action Plan, and Remembering Keegan: A First Nations Case Study.
