Senior Program Specialist

The Senior Program Specialist will play a key role in the coordination and execution of assigned programs and projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives. This position requires strong leadership and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal and external partners.
Key Responsibilities- Assist senior program management in the coordination and execution of assigned programs and projects.
- Work closely with various departments and clients to ensure program deliverables meet expectations.
- Develop and deliver program goals that align with business objectives.
- Maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners.
- Develop or assist in the generation of management plans, proposals, business cases, estimates, risk mitigation actions, plans, and schedules.
- Provide project management support in the coordination and execution of assigned projects.
- Control and monitor work, collating data and KPIs to measure performance.
- Produce management reports and presentations demonstrating project/program status against established goals and plans.
- Attend and moderate regular review meetings as required.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to resolve outstanding issues.
- Apply a suitable program management framework, ensuring gate reviews are conducted at appropriate points during the program lifecycle.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, accounting, or business preferred.
- 5-8 years of experience in heavy industry (manufacturing, shipbuilding, ship repair, or construction).
- Preference given to applicants certified or actively working towards a project management qualification.
- Demonstrated experience with complex projects and/or programs, including RFP/RFQ responses and bid proposals.
- Detailed understanding of project management techniques and methods.
- Excellent judgment and prioritization skills.
- Effective and efficient communication.
- Strong report writing skills, both business and technical.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to develop strategy.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with Government of Canada contracting.
- Effective conflict management.
- Excellent computer skills.
