Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Rehabilitation Assistant to join our team at Home and Community Care Support Services. As a key member of our team, you will provide essential support to our physiotherapists and occupational therapists in delivering high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist registered therapists with patient assessments and treatment programs, adhering to established guidelines and protocols.
  • Implement treatment plans with patients under the direction of registered therapists, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of services.
  • Utilize electronic health records and other organizational platforms to receive clinical support and guidance from directing therapists.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient interventions, adhering to organizational policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with registered therapists to discuss patient treatment plans and progress, ensuring seamless communication and coordination.
  • Research and recommend assessment, diagnosis, and intervention tools, aids, and materials to support registered therapists in delivering patient services.
  • Promote patient independence and reintegration into the community, ensuring a safe and healthy environment.
  • Contribute to a safe and healthy work environment by following established safety protocols and procedures.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Physiotherapy Assistant/Occupational Therapist Assistant 2-year diploma program.
  • PTA/OTA certification recognized by the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario (CPO) and the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO) required.
  • Previous experience as an Occupational Therapy Assistant/Physiotherapy Assistant in a healthcare setting within the last two years.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Relevant experience assisting registered therapists in a community/healthcare environment.
  • Knowledge of occupational therapy and physiotherapy professions, including equipment, modalities, materials, and intervention processes.
  • Clear understanding of the scope and limitations of the Rehabilitation Assistant's role and their relationship with registered therapists.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple, competing demands and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Working knowledge of computer software and Microsoft Office applications.
