Your Opportunity:

Join a dedicated team at Alberta Health Services, where you will work in a 50-bed continuing care facility situated in a tranquil rural environment. As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will collaborate within an interdisciplinary team to deliver patient-centered care. This role requires the Registered Nurse to provide leadership, including guidance, supervision, mentoring, constructive feedback, and coordination of care among other healthcare professionals and unregulated staff. In this capacity, the Clinical Nurse Specialist must demonstrate critical thinking abilities to plan, assess, implement, and evaluate individualized care for clients, particularly the elderly, including those with Alzheimer’s Disease or other forms of dementia.

Position Overview:

In your role as a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will deliver a comprehensive range of nursing services to patients, families, and communities, ensuring their safety and well-being. Your responsibilities will include utilizing nursing processes through critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making, as well as educating, counseling, and advocating for patients and their families. You will take on a leadership role in promoting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion, and maintenance. Your focus will be on providing safe, high-quality, patient and family-centered care while embodying the shared vision and values of Alberta Health Services.

Essential Qualifications:

- Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
- Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
- If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of specific courses is required.

Additional Qualifications:

- Proficiency in relevant technical nursing skills and a willingness to acquire new skills as necessary.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to foster effective interpersonal relationships.
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities.
- Commitment to maintaining professional competence through ongoing development activities.
- Ability to work shifts and meet the physical demands of the role.
- A strong attendance record is essential.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Recent experience or education in gerontology nursing is advantageous.
- Experience in a continuing care setting within the last three years is preferred.
- Familiarity with interRAI LTCF and Connect Care is beneficial.
- Leadership training and experience as a charge nurse are considered assets.
