Role Summary:

As a Rehabilitation Support Specialist, you will collaborate with an interprofessional team under the guidance of various healthcare professionals, including audiologists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, recreation therapists, and speech-language pathologists. Your contributions will enhance rehabilitation services, ensuring comprehensive client care across various stages of health, from wellness to end-of-life support, catering to individuals of all ages.

This position demands effective collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders, showcasing professionalism and ethical standards in client-centered care and teamwork. You will be expected to engage in reflective practices and continuous learning to improve both personal and team competencies. Your interpersonal and clinical skills will be vital in contributing to quality enhancement, program development, and the supervision of students.

Essential Qualifications:

A diploma from an accredited post-secondary Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant program or equivalent training is required.

Additional Qualifications:

A diploma from an approved post-secondary Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant program that encompasses recreation therapy is preferred. Equivalent relevant training may also be considered. The candidate must be capable of working independently and possess a solid understanding of the professional scope of practice. Strong interpersonal skills and a courteous demeanor are crucial. Physical capability to assist patients in wheelchairs and perform transfers as outlined in care plans is necessary. Basic computer proficiency is also required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with charting in electronic health records is preferred.
