Your Opportunity:
Tofield Continuing Care is a 50-bed facility situated in a rural environment where Clinical Nurses collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to deliver patient-centered care. The RN/RPN will be expected to provide leadership, including guidance, oversight, mentoring, constructive feedback, and coordination of care for clients, alongside other professionals and unregulated staff. In this coordination role, the Clinical Nurse must possess the ability to employ critical thinking skills to plan, assess, implement, and evaluate patient-centered care. This setting is ideal for candidates who have a profound interest and expertise in caring for elderly clients, including those diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease or other forms of dementia.
Description:
As a Clinical Nurse (RN), you will deliver a comprehensive range of nursing services to patients, families, communities, and populations, while taking essential measures to ensure their safety and well-being. In your capacity, you will apply nursing processes through critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making, as well as educate, counsel, and advocate for patients and their families. You will assume a leadership role in fostering an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion, and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family-centered care while embodying the shared vision and values of Alberta Health Services.
Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Proficiency in relevant technical nursing skills and a willingness to acquire new skills as necessary. Basic computer skills. Strong communication abilities and the capacity to maintain effective interpersonal relationships. Demonstrated problem-solving capabilities. Ongoing responsibility for maintaining personal continuing competence through professional development activities. Ability to work shift work. Capability to meet the physical demands of the role. Must have an excellent attendance record.
Preferred Qualifications:
Recent experience and/or education in gerontology nursing is an asset. Experience in a continuing care environment within the last three years. Familiarity with the interRAI LTCF and Connect Care. Recent gerontology nursing experience and/or education, charge nurse, and leadership training is an asset.
