Salary Range: MoveUp Group 12 with TMA, MIN $8, MAX $9,935.00, subject to annual wage increases.
Recruitment Range: MIN $8,281 – STEP 3 $9,196.
Salary placement is based on an evaluation of the candidate's qualifications and experience. In exceptional cases, candidates may be offered a salary above the recruitment range with Union agreement.
Position Overview:The Senior Business Analyst plays a crucial role in collaborating with various stakeholders to identify and prioritize business and solution requirements for technology initiatives. This position emphasizes technology projects related to operational functions, necessitating a comprehensive understanding of transit operations, including maintenance and dispatch.
The Senior Business Analyst employs diverse methodologies to engage with stakeholders, transforming business needs into actionable user stories and requirements, which are then communicated to technology teams and vendors. This role is pivotal in ensuring that technology solutions align with business objectives and deliver tangible benefits.
In addition to managing requirements throughout the project lifecycle, the Senior Business Analyst is responsible for developing testing strategies, crafting test cases, facilitating user testing, and collaborating with project managers to ensure user acceptance of delivered solutions.
This position is inherently people-oriented, requiring strong analytical skills, effective communication, and the ability to cultivate trusting relationships across the organization. The ideal candidate will simplify complex concepts, build rapport with colleagues from various departments, and collaboratively address intricate challenges.
While this role does not involve direct supervision, it serves as a mentorship opportunity for junior business analysts, guiding them in their professional development. As a part of a developing team, this position will also contribute to refining processes and enhancing best practices within the organization.
Qualifications:Successful candidates typically possess:
- A degree in Computer Science, Business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Certification as a Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or similar qualifications.
- Membership in a recognized Project Management organization is considered an asset.
Additionally, candidates with the following experience are highly regarded:
- Progressive experience as a Business Analyst, including at least 2 years in a senior capacity within large organizations on IT projects.
- Proven track record in establishing and implementing Business Analysis methodologies and processes.
- Familiarity with project management principles as defined by the Project Management Institute (PMI).
- Knowledge of business analysis standards as outlined by the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA).
- Experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions.
- Ability to collaborate with stakeholders to develop user stories and requirements, articulate complex concepts in layman's terms, and support testing activities.
