Position Overview

The Chief Fundraising Officer will be instrumental in enhancing and advocating for the "Pathways To Leadership" (PTL) organization, its governing body, and the PTL integration framework. This role encompasses fostering visibility, nurturing relationships, broadening leadership avenues for PTL alumni, coordinating board activities, providing training, and securing financial resources for our mission-oriented projects. You will oversee the identification of funding opportunities, crafting proposals, and managing the entire grant application lifecycle. This position demands exceptional writing abilities, meticulous attention to detail, effective communication skills, and a strong commitment to community impact.

Key Responsibilities

Fundraising:

  • Formulate both short-term and long-term fundraising strategies.
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of Canadian funding frameworks.
  • Identify prospective grant opportunities from governmental bodies, foundations, and other funding entities.
  • Conduct thorough research to grasp the funding priorities and requirements of each grant opportunity.
  • Utilize grant search tools to compile a robust list of potential funders.
  • Manage a portfolio of foundation and government funding sources, collaborating with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to prepare and submit grant deliverables.
  • Maintain an organized repository of grant-related documents.
  • Compose clear and persuasive grant proposals, including budgets, in partnership with program staff and leadership.
  • Ensure timely submission of all proposals, adhering to specific grant application requirements.
  • Monitor and report on the status of grant applications and awards, ensuring compliance with reporting obligations.

Outreach and Communication:

  • Bring over a decade of experience in nonprofit leadership, with a focus on operations, fundraising, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Promote and expand the "Pathways to Leadership with Racialized Immigrant and Refugee Women's" integration model in collaboration with the Executive Director.
  • Demonstrate extensive experience in cultivating successful partnerships among nonprofits, equity-seeking organizations, and government agencies.
  • Draft a variety of materials, including detailed reports and internal communications.
  • Evaluate and recommend improvements to external communication processes.
  • Prepare reports for external funders under the guidance of the Executive Director.

Operational Leadership:

  • Supervise the research consultant tasked with surveying and organizing focus groups with PTL alumni.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and a working group of PTL graduates to define survey questions and focus group formats, analyze results, and produce research reports.
  • Identify and coordinate various training and leadership development opportunities for PTL Board members.
  • Organize and facilitate Board meetings and support committee activities.
  • Oversee bookkeeping tasks and the preparation of financial statements for funders.
  • Lead the organization of learning events and social gatherings for PTL alumni.
  • Provide operational leadership for the implementation of new PTL initiatives as funding becomes available.
  • Plan and submit funder reporting requirements as scheduled.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in nonprofit work, including grant writing and operational leadership.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Familiarity with budgeting and financial statements related to grant applications.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Proven ability to produce high-quality proposals and reports under tight deadlines.
  • Self-motivated with a commitment to achieving high standards.
  • Enthusiastic and flexible, with the ability to work collaboratively and independently as needed.
