Position Overview

The Chief Fundraising Officer will be instrumental in advancing the mission of the "Pathways To Leadership" (PTL) organization. This role encompasses the leadership of outreach, communications, and operational strategies to enhance the visibility and effectiveness of PTL. You will be tasked with fostering relationships, broadening leadership opportunities for PTL graduates, coordinating board activities, and securing essential funding for our initiatives. Your expertise in grant identification, proposal development, and management of the grant application process will be vital to our success.

Key Responsibilities

Fundraising:

  • Formulate both short-term and long-term fundraising strategies.
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of Canadian funding frameworks.
  • Identify and evaluate potential grant opportunities from various funding bodies.
  • Conduct thorough research to grasp the funding priorities and requirements of potential grants.
  • Utilize grant search tools to compile a diverse list of prospective funders.
  • Manage relationships with a portfolio of foundation and government funders, collaborating with the Executive Director and Board to prepare and submit grant deliverables.
  • Maintain an organized library of grant-related documents.
  • Compose persuasive and clear grant proposals, including budget outlines, in partnership with program staff.
  • Ensure timely submission of proposals that adhere to grant specifications.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of grant applications and awards.
  • Ensure compliance with all grant reporting obligations.

Outreach and Communication:

  • Bring over a decade of experience in nonprofit leadership, with a focus on operations, fundraising, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Promote the "Pathways to Leadership with Racialized Immigrant and Refugee Women's" integration model to potential partners and funders.
  • Leverage deep knowledge in building effective partnerships with nonprofits and government entities.
  • Draft a variety of communication materials, including reports and internal documents.
  • Assess and recommend improvements to external communication processes.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports for external funders under the guidance of the Executive Director.

Operational Leadership:

  • Supervise research consultants conducting surveys and focus groups with PTL graduates.
  • Organize training and leadership development opportunities for Board members.
  • Coordinate Board meetings and support committee activities.
  • Oversee bookkeeping and financial reporting to funders.
  • Lead the organization of learning events and social gatherings for PTL graduates.
  • Provide operational guidance for new PTL initiatives as funding becomes available.
  • Prepare and submit reports to funders as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Communications or Nonprofit Management.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in nonprofit organizations, particularly in grant writing and operational leadership.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively.
  • Familiarity with financial statements and budgeting related to grant applications.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated with a commitment to high standards of work.
