Position Summary: The Prepress Supervisor plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between the Customer Service Department and the printing operations. This position is responsible for overseeing daily activities within the Prepress department, ensuring that all tasks are executed efficiently and effectively. The supervisor will lead, inspire, and support the team, promoting a collaborative environment while maintaining clear communication.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee daily operations of the Prepress team.
  2. Address and resolve any conflicts within the department.
  3. Ensure adherence to equipment operating procedures.
  4. Receive and manage digital files from various sources.
  5. Conduct preflight checks and troubleshoot customer files.
  6. Prepare files for proofing and plate output.
  7. Impose files on templates and configure press-specific settings.
  8. Output files to proofing devices and plate setters.
  9. Troubleshoot any issues related to RIP processes.
  10. Efficiently operate plating machinery and software.
  11. Match plates with corresponding dockets and proofs.
  12. Resolve any issues related to Prinergy and imposition.
  13. Manage workflows for projects with unique requirements.
  14. Assist in creating assessments for Prepress skills.
  15. Support recruitment efforts for the department.
  16. Respond to inquiries from customers regarding Prepress services.
  17. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. 5-8 years of experience in prepress, with a strong preference for familiarity with the Esko software suite.
  2. Leadership experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
  3. Proficient in various Prepress tools and technologies.
  4. Experience in managing diverse print projects for optimal manufacturing efficiency.
  5. Knowledge of lean principles to enhance workflow productivity.
  6. Ability to document processes clearly for team standardization.
  7. Strong technical skills to convey complex concepts effectively.
  8. Collaborative approach to working with technical experts.
  9. Willingness to stay abreast of industry trends and advancements.
  10. Proficient in both Macintosh and Windows operating systems.
  11. Capable of preparing files for output to proof and plate.
  12. Familiarity with Kodak Prinergy workflow.
  13. Experience in paste-up and book imposition techniques.
  14. Thorough understanding of PDF formats.
  15. Excellent communication skills.
