Senior Prosecutor for Homicide Cases

The Bronx District Attorney's Office is dedicated to serving the diverse community of Bronx County, emphasizing our mission of "Pursuing Justice with Integrity." We are currently seeking skilled attorneys to join our Homicide Bureau, which is staffed by some of the most experienced prosecutors in one of the busiest offices in the nation. Given the significant challenges posed by the rise in violent crime, particularly homicides, we invite applications from seasoned trial attorneys who have a proven track record in handling complex cases.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Manage homicide prosecutions from initial investigation through to trial.
  2. Participate in 24-hour on-call duty rotations.
  3. Respond promptly to crime scenes as required.
  4. Conduct thorough interviews with witnesses and defendants.
  5. Prepare legal documents such as search warrants and subpoenas.
  6. Present homicide cases effectively to the grand jury.
  7. Build and maintain rapport with witnesses and families of victims.
  8. Efficiently handle a substantial caseload.
  9. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  1. Juris Doctor degree is mandatory.
  2. A minimum of 7 years of experience in criminal trials is required.
  3. At least 5 felony jury trials completed.
  4. U.S. citizenship and residency in New York State are required from the first day of employment.
  5. Must be a member in good standing of the New York State Bar.
  6. Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and uphold ethical standards.
  7. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  8. Must maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  9. Proven problem-solving skills from inception to resolution.
  10. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing a high volume of cases.
  11. Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
Residency Requirement:

New York State residency is required on the first day of employment.
