Job Summary
In this role, you will utilize your mechanical heavy equipment expertise to commission, service, troubleshoot, and repair shovels in open-pit mining environments. Your responsibilities will include performing breakdown and preventative maintenance on the existing shovel fleet and providing technical support across multiple shovel assemblies. Additionally, you will attend meetings and deliver reports and advice to customers regarding breakdown repairs, upgrades, and maintenance practices.


Key Responsibilities

  • Apply mechanical and structural skills to commission, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair P&H mining shovels in open-pit mining conditions.
  • Provide technical support for all product lines at customer sites.
  • Research and resolve technical issues effectively.
  • Foster excellent customer relations and maintain an updated customer database.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to address and improve repetitive or critical field issues.
  • Support shovel assemblies and assist in machine commissioning.
  • Conduct machine audits during planned outages.
  • Document mechanical and structural reliability issues and communicate them to OEM product support for resolution.
  • Assist in customer outage planning and participate in technical meetings.

Qualifications

  • Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician/Millwright (Red Seal preferred) with knowledge of welding technology and structural inspection.
  • Demonstrated mechanical and structural troubleshooting experience at customer sites.
  • Understanding of the functionality and operation of mining shovels, with the ability to accurately diagnose issues.
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills are essential.
  • Experience in machine building and commissioning phases of new equipment.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot mining machines in outdoor environments.
  • Familiarity with welding procedures.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with other mechanical and electrical professionals.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Project, Teams).
  • Additional secondary education in mechanical and welding trades (CWB certification) is advantageous.
  • Other duties as assigned.
