Position Overview: Reporting to the IT Manager, the Technical Support Specialist plays a crucial role in assisting users with their computing needs. This position involves providing support for hardware such as desktop computers, printers, and other devices, as well as software applications. The Specialist will be responsible for tracking support requests through a ticketing system and ensuring timely resolution of issues, whether in person, via phone, or through digital communication platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver exceptional desktop support to staff, utilizing strong interpersonal skills.
  • Assist end-users with computer peripherals and general IT services by installing, monitoring, diagnosing, maintaining, and upgrading hardware and software to optimize performance.
  • Consult technical documentation to research and implement effective solutions.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff in response to identified challenges.
  • Document and track support requests using a helpdesk ticketing system.
  • Support system administration tasks, including user credential management and authentication.
  • Conduct regular audits and management of IT resources to ensure efficiency.
  • Organize and prioritize tickets within the helpdesk system.
  • Maintain proactive communication with staff regarding system updates and support.
  • Encourage innovative thinking and problem-solving approaches.
  • Engage in continuous learning and development of technical skills.
  • Perform additional duties as required within the scope of the role.

Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Willingness to work outside standard business hours as necessary.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Strong analytical skills to research and interpret data.
  • Proficient critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and adherence to the shíshálh Nation's policies.
  • Ability to foster positive relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders.
  • Skilled in interacting with individuals with empathy and tact, especially in high-pressure situations.
  • Familiarity with the Microsoft Windows operating system and core Microsoft products, including Microsoft 365.
  • Demonstrated technical skills with a structured approach to diagnostics.
  • Must be able to pass a Criminal Records Check prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is advantageous.
