Job Description

**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced **Youth Program Manager** to lead our Youthrive and York Region Pop-Up Programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, leading, and managing the day-to-day operations of the programs, ensuring they align with regulatory requirements, 360°kids' policies, mission, and vision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Management: Responsible for the day-to-day organization and operation of the Youthrive and York Region Pop-Up Programs.
  • Activity Development and Implementation: Work with program staff, volunteers, and community partners to research, develop, implement, and facilitate various activities that promote physical activity, healthy eating and nutrition, positive personal development, and wellness.
  • Collaboration and Consultation: Work in consultation with the Manager of Support Programs to select and facilitate activities aimed at achieving the desired outcomes as outlined in the operations plan.
  • Program Compliance: Ensure that the programs are in line with the stated mission and vision of the organization and comply with applicable standards and laws.
  • Crisis Management: Exercise judgment and initiative in managing contact with management in the event of a crisis or critical incident.
  • Staff Direction and Development: Provide direction to staff in terms of operations and programs, in accordance with the approved Strategic Plan of 360°kids.
  • Policies and Procedures: Ensure that appropriate policies, procedures, and methods are being utilized.
  • Communication and Leadership: Communicate the mission, values of 360°kids to employees, and other stakeholders, and provide leadership to the Youthrive and York Region Pop-Up programs in team building and motivation of employees.
  • Site Visits and Quality Control: Make regular site visits to ensure support and quality control of each program site.
  • Staff Recruitment and Supervision: Hire and terminate staff for all program positions, recruit and supervise volunteers and students.
  • Performance Appraisal and Meetings: Participate in regular supervision meetings and performance appraisal meetings on a semiannual basis, and facilitate regular staff meetings to ensure effective communication and training is provided consistently.
  • Financial Management: Assist in the sound financial management and appropriate controls of the program's budget, and provide leadership to the team and direction with regard to financial management of the Programs budget.
  • Public Relations: Promote the public relations activities of the Programs and be aware of the public relations activities of the organization.
  • Reporting and Record-Keeping: Provide reports and related information as required to the Manager of Support Programs, other designated organizations, and appropriate regulatory agencies, and ensure staff completes mandatory recording and reporting.

Requirements:

  • Education: Post-Secondary degree/diploma in a Child/youth related field (e.g. Child and Youth, Social Service Worker, Social Worker, Psychology, Sociology) or the equivalent combination of education and experience working with children or youth.
  • Experience: Minimum of three years' experience working with children or youth, plus at least one year supervisory or management experience.
  • Certifications: Current First Aid/CPR certification and current vulnerable sector screening (criminal background check).
  • Skills: Leadership skills, including motivation, delegation, coaching/mentoring and empowerment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to be adaptable with a flexible approach.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional interpersonal skills that promote positive team building, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
  • Community Knowledge: A broad knowledge of community resources and the ability to strongly advocate for clients and professional referrals.
  • Relationship Building: Relationship building and management skills, to support relationships with peers, staff, partners, and ministry officials and other stakeholders.
