The Operations Supervisor at IPC Canada Ltd. will oversee the daily functions of our thermal SAGD facility. This role encompasses various operations including water treatment, high-pressure steam production, oil processing, and production pads. The Supervisor will focus on achieving key performance indicators (KPIs) while fostering team development and supporting maintenance efforts.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Adhere to and promote IPC's Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Management System, ensuring that safety considerations are prioritized in all operational activities.
  • Guarantee a safe working environment for all personnel.
  • Implement and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), including reviewing and enhancing existing protocols. Develop new SOPs as necessary and participate in scheduled audits.
  • Actively engage in the Facility Competency Training program.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of all processes and safety systems to manage facility operations safely and efficiently.
  • Oversee daily maintenance tasks, data collection, and shift handover documentation.
  • Meet the TSASK requirements for a second-class Shift Engineer while leading a team of operational staff.
  • Manage the daily operations of the control room, water treatment systems, steam generation units, oil processing facilities, and production/injection pads.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members across all facility areas.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot equipment specific to each area to optimize performance and meet production KPIs.
  • Monitor all sampling and testing conditions as required.
  • Support maintenance activities as needed.
  • Offer assistance, coaching, on-the-job training, and evaluations as required.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2nd Class Power Engineering Certificate.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the oil and gas sector, particularly in SAGD operations.
  • Experience in operating steam generation equipment and associated systems.
  • Familiarity with control room operations and Delta-V systems is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of safe work permitting and equipment isolation for maintenance preparation.
  • Proficient in computer usage.
  • Strong mechanical skills and troubleshooting abilities, with a capacity to work collaboratively.
  • Self-driven, capable of working independently, and willing to take on additional responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position involves approximately 80% fieldwork and 20% computer-based tasks. The role may be camp-based or local, operating on a 10x10 rotating schedule with 12-hour shifts, including weekends and holidays.
