The Operations Supervisor at IPC Canada Ltd. will oversee the daily functions of our thermal extraction facility. This facility encompasses various processes including water treatment, high-pressure steam production, oil processing, and production pads. The role is focused on achieving operational KPIs while fostering team development and maintenance support.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Adhere to and promote the policies, objectives, and initiatives of IPC's Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Management System, ensuring that HSE considerations are prioritized in all activities.
  • Guarantee a safe working environment for all personnel.
  • Implement standard operating procedures (SOPs), including reviewing and enhancing existing protocols. Develop new SOPs as necessary and engage in regular audits.
  • Actively participate in the Facility Competency Training program.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of all processes and safety systems to manage the facility effectively and safely.
  • Oversee daily maintenance tasks, data collection, and shift handover documentation.
  • Meet the requirements for a second-class Shift Engineer and lead a team of operational staff.
  • Supervise the daily operations of the control room, water treatment systems, steam generation units, oil processing areas, and production/injection pads.
  • Provide mentorship to junior staff across all facility areas.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot equipment specific to each area to enhance performance and meet production targets.
  • Monitor conditions for all sampling and testing activities.
  • Support all maintenance efforts.
  • Offer guidance, on-the-job training, and assessments as needed.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2nd Class Power Engineering Certificate.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the oil and gas sector, particularly in SAGD operations.
  • Familiarity with steam generation equipment and associated processes.
  • Experience with control room operations and Delta-V systems is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of safe work permitting and equipment isolation for maintenance preparation.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Strong mechanical skills and troubleshooting abilities, with a capacity to work collaboratively.
  • Self-driven, capable of working independently, and open to taking on greater responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position entails approximately 80% fieldwork and 20% computer-based tasks. The role may be camp-based or local, operating on a 10x10 rotating schedule with 12-hour shifts, including weekends and holidays.
