About the Program
The Manufacturing Leadership Development Program at Goodyear is a comprehensive two-year program designed to develop the next generation of leaders within the company.
Program Objectives
- To gain a deep understanding of the plant's entry-level management opportunities and develop a well-rounded knowledge base for effective decision-making.
- To acquire basic leadership competencies for entry-level positions and develop the skills necessary to succeed in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- To provide participants with hands-on learning experiences and exposure to various aspects of the business, including plant optimization, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.
Program Structure
- Participants will shadow a Process Engineer, Health and Safety Manager, Plant Optimization Leader, and Business Leader for 3-month assignments to gain a deeper understanding of their roles and responsibilities.
- They will be involved in plant optimization projects and learn problem-solving and continuous improvement methods relative to the business quarter.
- Participants will write reports to demonstrate their knowledge of the plant's manufacturing processes, the roles and responsibilities of support functions, and the technical knowledge of equipment and processes in a specific area.
- They will perform a challenge assignment in each of the designated positions and complete designated management and leadership courses for entry-level managers.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree or three-year certificate in engineering, business management, or a related discipline is required.
- Participants must be geographically mobile upon completion of the two-year program.
- Candidates should be highly energized and self-motivated with experience working with teams to implement change and be adept at communicating with all levels to get everyone on board.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required, as well as personal computer skills in a networked environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- A demonstrated history of successfully leading and facilitating changes in a 24/7 operation that involve all levels of employees with measurable results.
- Proven ability to lead associates through coaching and mentoring.
