Program Overview

Goodyear's Manufacturing Leadership Development Program is a two-year program designed for individuals who want to develop their leadership skills and advance their careers in manufacturing.

Program Goals

  • Gain knowledge and understanding of the plant's entry-level management opportunities
  • Attain a well-rounded knowledge base for effective decision-making
  • Acquire basic leadership competencies for entry-level positions

Program Structure

  • Shadow a Process Engineer, Health and Safety Manager, Plant Optimization Leader, and Business Leader for 3-month assignments to learn about their roles and perform hands-on learning activities
  • Involvement in Plant Optimization projects
  • Learn problem-solving and continuous improvement methods relative to the business quarter
  • Write reports to demonstrate knowledge of the plant's manufacturing processes, roles, and responsibilities of support functions, and technical knowledge of equipment and processes
  • Perform a challenge assignment in each designated position
  • Complete designated management and leadership courses for entry-level managers

Qualifications

  • Must possess a Bachelor's degree or three-year certificate in engineering, business management, or a related discipline
  • Must be geographically mobile upon completion of the two-year program
  • Candidates should be highly energized and self-motivated with experience working with teams to implement change and be adept at communicating with all levels
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required
  • Personal computer skills in a networked environment

Preference

Preference will be given to those candidates who have a demonstrated history of successfully leading and facilitating changes in a 24/7 operation that involve all levels of employees with measurable results. Proven ability to lead associates through coaching and mentoring.
