Position Overview

The firm is in search of a highly skilled professional to advance the development and maturation of its expanding global technology business, which includes both internally developed solutions and client-specific projects worldwide. Reporting to the global leader of the digital division, this role will address a diverse range of matters, including strategic planning, business modeling, market entry strategies, pricing, contractual agreements, licensing, service level agreements, major client partnerships, and business development initiatives.

The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of how technology and innovation can be effectively utilized; they will be an integrative thinker with experience across various business models within the technology sector. The Global Director will leverage the firm's unique capabilities in disruptive thinking, technology application, and business case-driven solutions to foster growth and enhance customer value.

Success in this role will require collaboration with clients, internal business unit leaders, technology directors, and third-party organizations to optimize the commercial value derived from the firm’s products, technologies, and solutions.

The successful candidate will be an entrepreneurial leader with a proven track record of transforming innovative ideas and technologies into successful business ventures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support product leaders in developing commercialization strategies, commercial terms, and partnership agreements.
  • Provide guidance on intellectual property protection strategies.
  • Educate and mentor project teams on commercial considerations.
  • Conduct specific business unit activities as needed, such as Project Value Benefit Analysis and write-off assessments.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Shared Services teams, Joint Venture partners, and client representatives regarding digital products and commercial matters.
  • Review and develop commercial terms in proposals and contracts, including prime contracts, subcontracts, and Joint Venture agreements for all digital initiatives.
  • Draft standard Intellectual Property (IP) terms for inclusion in all digital proposals and contracts to safeguard Background IP and manage co-created foreground IP.
  • Assist with software development contracting models, including recurring revenue and licensing frameworks.
  • Formulate NDAs, MOUs, and Joint Ventures with technology partners and third-party companies involved in project execution.
  • Enhance existing commercial arrangements by mitigating risks, achieving financial targets, and ensuring timely payments.
  • Prepare and present Global and Regional Risk Review documentation.
  • Lead negotiations with clients on contractual and commercial terms.
  • Engage with regional leadership and Project Managers for ongoing sales forecast updates.
  • Collaborate with Business Unit Leads to gather market intelligence and develop market strategies.
  • Build and maintain client relationships, monitor business opportunities, and oversee tender submissions.
  • Coordinate with Shared Services for commercial proposals, including legal, financial, and taxation considerations.
  • Work with project teams to ensure effective project initiation and team mobilization, particularly for major projects.
  • Ensure proper invoicing setup, contract compliance, and change management with clients.
  • Develop strategies to maximize commercial value from identified opportunities.
  • Identify avenues to expand service offerings linked to new technologies.
  • Collaborate with senior management to refine and implement the strategic direction for the division.
  • Continuously enhance organizational capabilities.
  • Drive business growth, market penetration, and profitability.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and technological advancements to align services with market demands.

Preferred Qualifications

The following qualifications are important for success in this role:

  • Minimum of 10 years in a senior consulting or leadership role, preferably in engineering.
  • Degree in engineering and/or business, ideally both.
  • 15+ years of relevant experience in an industrial software business.
  • Strategically minded executive with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in industrial sales or business development is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of intellectual property management.
  • 10+ years of experience with software licensing and various commercial models.
