Role Overview

The Analyst will play a pivotal role in supporting the Adoption and Permanency Services Unit within the Policy, Practice, and Program Development (PPPD) Branch of the Child Intervention (CI) Division. This position is essential in fostering the effective delivery of legal permanency initiatives throughout the province. The Analyst will engage in policy and program formulation and execution, grounded in best practices, to ensure favorable outcomes for children, youth, and families. This role involves coordinating policy and legislative projects that establish the direction for practices and programs, providing informed recommendations to management and senior officials based on specialized expertise. Furthermore, the Analyst serves as a strategic resource for the unit, branch, and division, assisting in identifying issues, developing options, and preparing policy decision materials that align with current practices and organizational readiness. The contributions of this position will shape policies, programs, and services that adhere to child protection and legal permanency legislation, while also reflecting emerging trends and best practices.

Reporting to the Manager of Adoption & Permanency, the Analyst will undertake a variety of strategic and operational policy tasks specific to legal permanency, including Government Legal Permanency – Adoption and Private Guardianship, as well as Private and International Adoption.

The Analyst will collaborate with program specialists to ensure that provincial practices, programs, and policies are continuously updated to reflect new trends, research, and best practices, while also emphasizing service quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and identify issues and trends that may necessitate adjustments to practices, policies, programs, and legislation.
  • Conduct research and develop policy and practice resources that align with the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act (CYFEA), its regulations, and the Adoption Regulation.
  • Investigate and address issues through comprehensive research, data analysis, and stakeholder consultations, including staff, adoptive parents, private guardians, and licensed adoption agencies.
  • Lead special projects and initiatives, including policy and legislative revisions, aimed at enhancing the quality of programs and services.
