Kitchen Assistant

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled Cook's Helper to join our team. As a Cook's Helper, you will be responsible for preparing fresh to order room service menu items for patients, clients, and customers in a fast-paced line cooking team environment.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and portion ingredients for recipes according to established procedures
- Produce food items for the patient menu, ensuring quality and presentation standards are met
- Follow cost control procedures, safe food handling procedures, therapeutic, allergy, and menu standards
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients, clients, and customers
We are looking for a motivated and organized individual with a strong work ethic and excellent communication skills. The ideal candidate will have:
- Grade 12 or equivalent required
- Recognized Food Safety and Sanitation Course required or willingness to obtain within six months
- One year related experience required
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Demonstrated organization and prioritization skills, with ability to work under pressure
- Physical capability to perform duties of position, including heavy lifting, walking, and standing during shift
Casual Relief Positions available, with shifts including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
