Kitchen Assistant

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled Cook's Helper to join our team. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for preparing fresh, high-quality food for patients, clients, and customers in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and cook food to order, adhering to recipes and portion control guidelines.
- Measure and portion ingredients accurately to ensure consistency and quality.
- Follow safe food handling procedures and maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment.
- Provide exceptional customer service and respond to customer inquiries and concerns.
- Work effectively in a team environment, communicating with colleagues and supervisors to ensure seamless service delivery.
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual with a passion for food preparation and customer service. To be successful in this role, you will require:
- Grade 12 or equivalent education.
- Recognized Food Safety and Sanitation Course or willingness to obtain within six months.
- One year of related experience in a food service or culinary environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
- Physical capability to perform duties of the position, including heavy lifting and standing for extended periods.
This is a casual relief position, with shifts including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. The hourly rate is $21.59 - $23.99, depending on experience.
