Position Overview

BMO is currently seeking a Senior Communications Specialist for a contract role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support communication efforts for incidents, issues, and defects occurring in production that necessitate internal and potentially external communications.
  • Bring 5-7 years of experience in communications or technical writing.
  • Experience in the financial services or banking sector is advantageous.
  • Participate in meetings to evaluate new issues and determine communication content requirements.
  • Compose and distribute internal communications to inform about technology issues and service interruptions.
  • Post relevant notices on digital platforms.
  • Prepare speaking points for frontline teams to address client inquiries as needed.
  • Draft client correspondence explaining issues or outages and facilitate legal review when necessary.
  • Document and monitor workstreams and project plans related to organizational culture, assigning status ratings accordingly.
  • Develop materials outlining project issues and risks.
  • Track adoption and progress at both leadership and employee levels.
  • Monitor key milestone updates for various forums including governance committees and influencer networks.
  • Collaborate with communications and key stakeholders.
  • Create executive update presentations and support reporting requirements.
  • Engage in activities such as employee appreciation initiatives and recognition programs.

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in Communications or Technical Writing (Required).
  • Ability to simplify complex technical language into clear, understandable terms (5 years Required).
  • Experience in embedding images and hyperlinks in communications (5 years Required).
  • Experience in the Financial Services or Banking Industry is a plus (5 years Desired).
  • Proficient in drafting and sending internal communications (5 years Required).
