Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Child and Youth Development Specialist to join our team at the Developmental Disabilities Association.



Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement child-care programs that support the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
  • Lead activities, such as telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest.
  • Encourage children to express creativity through art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity.
  • Plan and maintain a safe environment that promotes the health, security, and well-being of children.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with coworkers and community service providers working with children.


Education and Certifications

  • Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate
  • Emergency Child Care First Aid and CPR


Work Experience

  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience working with children, preferably in a group home or child care centre setting.
  • Experience working with children with intellectual disabilities is an asset.


Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities

  • Bending, crouching, kneeling


Financial Benefits
