Position Overview:

Barminco Mine Services Canada Ltd. is seeking to fill a critical role within our Shaft Services Crew.

  • This role operates on a rotation of 7 days on / 7 days off.
  • Shifts will include both day and night work.

Reporting to the Shaft Services Supervisor, the successful applicant will prioritize their own safety and that of their colleagues while ensuring the secure movement of personnel and materials between the surface and underground.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to all safety protocols and standard operating procedures while operating hoists, skips, and crushers in an underground setting.
  • Conduct pre-start safety checks on equipment and communicate any concerns to the supervisor and maintenance team.
  • Utilize the hoist for the transportation of personnel, goods, and waste/ore to and from the underground mine.
  • Operate underground ore crushers to process waste/ore material for surface transport.
  • Manage underground conveyor systems (skips) for the movement of waste/ore material to the surface.
  • Handle other mining machinery as needed, including loaders and jack-leg drills.
  • Perform additional general duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Proven commitment to maintaining a safe working environment for oneself and others.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in an underground mining setting.
  • Experience operating mobile equipment underground, such as trucks and loaders, is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with operating conveyors and hoists is a plus.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills are essential.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with proficiency in computer systems.
  • Flexibility and willingness to assist with various tasks as needed.
  • Ability to quickly learn new skills and adapt to different tasks.
  • Experience working in a cross-cultural environment is beneficial.
