The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Underground Mining Specialist to join our Shaft Services Crew in Canada. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and challenging environment, with a rotation of 7-days on / 7-days off.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate hoists, skips, and crushers in an underground environment, following all safety and standard operating procedures.
  • Perform pre-start safety inspections of equipment and report any issues to the Shaft Services Supervisor and maintenance crew.
  • Transport personnel, goods, and waste/ore to and from the underground mine using the hoist.
  • Operate ore crushers underground to crush waste/ore material in preparation for transport to surface.
  • Operate underground conveyor systems (skips) to transport waste/ore material to surface.
  • Operate other mining equipment as required, such as loaders, jack-leg drills, and conveyors.
  • Perform other general duties as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalency.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working safely while ensuring the safety of others.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience working in an underground mine.
  • Previous experience operating mobile equipment underground, such as trucks, loaders, and jack-legs, would be an asset.
  • Previous experience operating conveyors and hoists would be an asset.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.
  • Strong communications skills, verbal and written, and must be computer/systems literate.
  • Ability to learn new tasks quickly.
  • Ability to work in a cross-cultural environment.
