The Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Underground Mining Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Shaft Services Crew, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe transportation of personnel and material from the surface to the underground and back.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate hoists, skips, and crushers in an underground environment, following all safety and standard operating procedures.
  • Perform pre-start safety inspections of equipment and report any issues to your supervisor and maintenance crew.
  • Transport personnel, goods, and waste/ore to and from the underground mine using the hoist.
  • Operate ore crushers underground to crush waste/ore material in preparation for transport to surface.
  • Operate underground conveyor systems (skips) to transport waste/ore material to surface.
  • Operate other mining equipment as required, such as loaders and jack-leg drills.
  • Perform other general duties as required.

Requirements:

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalency.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working safely while ensuring the safety of others.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience working in an underground mine.
  • Previous experience operating mobile equipment underground, such as trucks and loaders, would be an asset.
  • Previous experience operating conveyors and hoists would be an asset.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.
  • Strong communications skills, verbal and written, and must be computer/systems literate.
  • Ability to learn new tasks quickly and work in a cross-cultural environment.
