Position Overview:

Barminco Mine Services Canada Ltd. is seeking a dedicated individual to become part of our Shaft Services Crew.

  • This role operates on a rotation of 7 days on / 7 days off.
  • Shifts will alternate between day and night.

Reporting to the Shaft Services Supervisor, the selected candidate will prioritize their safety and that of their colleagues while facilitating the secure movement of personnel and materials between the surface and underground environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to all safety protocols and standard operating procedures while operating hoists, skips, and crushers in an underground setting.
  • Conduct pre-start safety checks on equipment and promptly report any concerns to the supervisor and maintenance team.
  • Operate the hoist to transport personnel, materials, and waste/ore to and from the underground mine.
  • Manage underground ore crushers to process waste/ore materials for surface transport.
  • Utilize underground conveyor systems (skips) for the movement of waste/ore materials to the surface.
  • Occasionally operate additional mining equipment, such as loaders and jack-leg drills, as needed.
  • Perform other general duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven commitment to safety practices while ensuring the safety of others.
  • At least 3 years of experience in an underground mining environment.
  • Previous experience operating mobile equipment underground, such as trucks and loaders, is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with operating conveyors and hoists is a plus.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in computer systems.
  • Willingness to adapt and assist with various tasks as needed.
  • Ability to quickly learn new tasks.
  • Capacity to work effectively in a cross-cultural setting.
