About This Role

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to support public library governance across the province. As a Public Library Governance Specialist, you will be part of a team that provides professional support to the Ministry in the management and administration of the Libraries Act and Regulation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan of Service Process Coordination: Collaborate with library boards to conduct community needs assessments and develop service plans for relevant and accountable library services.
  • Libraries Act and Regulation Administration: Ensure library trustees understand their legal roles and provide guidance on provincial legislation compliance.
  • Public Library Service Development: Create resources and tools to support library staff and trustees with effective management, governance, and service delivery.
  • Branch Planning and Strategic Initiatives: Align Branch plans with Alberta's evolving service needs and Ministry goals.
  • Facilitating Branch Operations: Prepare materials for internal information requests and respond to public inquiries on provincial library services.
About You

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented individual who can effectively coordinate the Plan of Service process, administer the Libraries Act and Regulation, and support public library service development. Your strong analytical and communication skills will enable you to build effective relationships with library boards, staff, and stakeholders.

What We Offer

This role offers a competitive salary of $85,000-$115,000 per annum, commensurate with experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for professional growth and development.
