About the Role

As a Pediatric Trauma Physician, you will play a crucial role in delivering specialized care to pediatric trauma patients within a dynamic and collaborative team environment at BC Children's Hospital. You will work closely with a dedicated team of healthcare professionals, including surgeons, nurses, and specialists, to ensure the highest quality of care for these young patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate actively in rounds with the surgical team to assess and address the needs of trauma patients, contributing your expertise to develop comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Respond swiftly and effectively during trauma activations, providing immediate patient care and collaborating with the medical team to stabilize critical cases.
  • Maintain meticulous documentation of patient history, examinations, and progress notes, adhering to strict medical standards and ensuring accurate record-keeping.
  • Manage the daily care of trauma patients, coordinating seamlessly with multidisciplinary teams to ensure a holistic approach to treatment and recovery.
  • Facilitate necessary investigations and follow-up procedures, working closely with other departments to ensure timely and efficient patient care.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues across various specialties to provide comprehensive and coordinated patient care, fostering a strong team environment.
  • Conduct procedures within your demonstrated competence under the supervision of experienced attending surgeons, continuously refining your skills and knowledge.
  • Engage actively in quality improvement initiatives and educational sessions, contributing to the ongoing development and enhancement of trauma care practices.

Qualifications

We seek a highly motivated and skilled physician with a passion for pediatric trauma care. The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A medical degree from a recognized institution, coupled with postgraduate training in pediatrics or a surgical discipline.
  • Completion of all required medical licensing exams and demonstrable proficiency in English.
  • Eligibility for registration with the relevant medical board and authorization to work in British Columbia.
