Overview

The Medical Staff dedicated to trauma works in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to improve the quality of care for pediatric trauma patients and their families. Under the mentorship of an attending pediatric surgeon, the Medical Staff is integral to providing specialized medical attention within a structured team environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage in daily rounds with the surgical team to evaluate and respond to the needs of trauma patients
  • Participate in trauma activations to provide immediate medical assistance
  • Record patient history, examinations, and progress notes adhering to medical protocols
  • Oversee the daily management of trauma patients, coordinating with various healthcare teams
  • Facilitate essential diagnostic tests and follow-up procedures
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure comprehensive patient care
  • Perform procedures within established competencies under supervision
  • Contribute to quality improvement projects and educational initiatives
Qualifications

A medical degree from an accredited institution with postgraduate training in pediatrics or a surgical specialty. Successful completion of medical licensing examinations and proficiency in English. Eligibility for registration with the appropriate medical board and authorization to practice in British Columbia.
