About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Investment Analyst to join our team at TransAlta. As a key member of our investment analysis team, you will play a critical role in evaluating and managing investments in the power generation and utilities sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain complex financial models to evaluate potential investment opportunities
  • Analyze financial statements, cash flow projections, and other financial data to support investment decisions
  • Conduct in-depth market research and analysis on the power generation and utilities sector
  • Evaluate macroeconomic factors and their potential impact on investment opportunities
  • Assist in the development and execution of the company's investment strategy
  • Identify and recommend new investment opportunities in renewable energy and traditional power generation
  • Monitor and report on the performance of existing investments
  • Provide recommendations for portfolio optimization
  • Lead and participate in due diligence processes
  • Prepare and present detailed investment analysis and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field
  • 4 to 7 years of experience in investment analysis, financial modeling, or related roles
  • Prior experience in investment banking, corporate finance, equity research, or other valuation-driven roles
  • Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, Excel, and financial analysis tools
  • Solid understanding of the power generation and utilities sector
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
