Key Responsibilities
As a Lead Nurse, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the provision of high-quality, cost-effective services within the Organ Donation Organisation. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing and managing the achievement of Key Performance Indicators to maximize the number of organs and tissues available for donation within the designated area.
- Collaborating in the operational management of all service aspects provided by the Organ Donation Services team in the region.
- Directly supervising a team of healthcare professionals, with responsibilities rotating among the service management team, including management of the overall budget and a 24-hour on-call service.
- Contributing to hospital development strategies and leading corrective actions as necessary, ensuring the implementation and evaluation of national strategies within the area.
- Managing the operational aspects of team members within your delegated responsibilities.
Participation in a 24-hour on-call rota is required, along with maintaining clinical credibility by staying current in all areas related to organ donation.
Candidate Profile
- Demonstrated leadership and management experience in an acute healthcare setting relevant to organ donation, such as Intensive Care Units, surgical theatres, or emergency departments.
- Recent involvement in the Organ Donation Service as a Specialist Nurse in Organ Donation (SN-OD).
- Awareness of contemporary professional issues and advancements in coordination, nursing, and the National Health Service.
- Proven capability to assess the safety and effectiveness of personal clinical practices.
- Experience in implementing effective changes within teams or across an organization.
- Proficiency in using information technology, including Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), or equivalent systems.
Qualifications and Training
- Registered Nurse with current Nursing and Midwifery Council registration as either an Adult or Paediatric Nurse.
- Relevant degree or equivalent qualification in a related health field, or equivalent job-related experience.
- Demonstrable postgraduate level specialist experience in leadership and management.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development (CPD).
- Valid driving license permitting driving in the UK.
