Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Occupational Health Nurse to join our team at DriverCheck. As an Occupational Health Nurse, you will play a critical role in promoting the health, wellness, and safety of our employees and the workplace organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide on-site occupational health services to promote the health, wellness, and safety of individual workers, the aggregate worker population, and the workplace organization.
  • Deliver primary care for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses, including emergency response, clinical assessment, and triage of injuries.
  • Assess and provide direction for Fitness to Work/Diminished Capacity cases, including referrals as necessary.
  • Provide plant-wide emergency response, including assessment, treatment, and clinical monitoring of workers.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and assess workers' exposures to health hazards, perform, and coordinate medical surveillance procedures.
  • Develop and implement exposure control measures to mitigate workplace illness and injury.
  • Deliver health promotion and disease prevention programs to promote the health and wellness of employees.
  • Coordinate workplace accommodation and facilitate employees' return to work.
  • Maintain professional competence and be accountable for ongoing practice-relevant professional training and learning.
Requirements
  • RN or RPN designation; a specialty in occupational health nursing (COHN (C)) is an asset.
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience working as RPN or RN, preferably in occupational health setting.
  • Member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Mental Health Training sufficient to manage workers in crisis, or proven experience in mental health nursing is preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
  • Certification in audiometric and spirometry testing is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health Nursing standards of practice.
  • Highly developed critical thinking, problem-solving, prioritization, time management skills, as well as detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team and independently to complete prescribed tasks.
  • Ability to identify protocol development needs as per health surveillance program.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Human Rights legislation, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, and Employment Equity, Accessibility Ontario Disability Act.
