POSITION SUMMARY

Thompson Rivers University is in search of a sessional faculty member to instruct ECED 1440: Interpersonal Relations: Helping Interactions, a three-credit course.

Course Overview:

This course builds on the foundational knowledge and skills gained in ECED 1340: Communications, where students will delve into the critical aspects of professional interdependent relationships. Key topics will encompass leadership, effective communication, and problem-solving capabilities. Students will engage in practical exercises to enhance assertive communication, intercultural sensitivity, and teamwork skills.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are particularly interested in candidates who have demonstrated success in collaborating with early childhood education faculty to assist students in designing and executing innovative educational programs for young children. Experience in supporting and assessing student progress in both on-site and community-based practica, as well as liaising with community educators regarding student development, is highly valued.

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven teaching experience in early childhood education programs for children aged 3 to 5 years;
  • Strong understanding of pedagogical narrations and innovative approaches for young learners;
  • Expertise in the relevant course topics;
  • Experience in incorporating Indigenous knowledge and teaching methodologies;
  • Demonstrated ability to foster intercultural understanding, empathy, and mutual respect among students;
  • Commitment to teaching excellence, including the development of culturally relevant curricula;
  • Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills;

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Master of Education or equivalent qualification in a relevant field. Equivalent qualifications and/or experience will be taken into account, such as professional credentials or significant experience deemed particularly relevant to the discipline. For instance, a candidate with a Master of Arts degree and five years of experience in a related professional setting, along with evidence of substantial professional development during that period, would be considered;
