Job Summary

Thompson Rivers University is seeking a highly qualified sessional faculty member to teach one section of EDTE 3150: Diversity and Inclusive Education (3 credits) in Kamloops.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver high-quality instruction in EDTE 3150, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of diversity and inclusive education principles.
  • Design and implement culturally responsive curricula that promote intercultural understanding, empathy, and mutual respect.
  • Assess student learning and provide constructive feedback to promote academic excellence.
  • Stay current with best practices in diversity and inclusive education, incorporating research and evidence-based strategies into teaching practices.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement inclusive education initiatives.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Education or equivalent required; Master of Education or PhD preferred.
  • Recent experience as a K-12 teacher required.
  • Experience in a school leadership role in a school setting required.
  • Knowledge of current approaches to diversity and inclusive education required.
  • Experience teaching the secondary school subject areas of science and/or math preferred.
  • Knowledge of the Bachelor of Education Program at TRU preferred.
  • Previous successful post-secondary school teaching experience preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills required.
  • Proven skills in building intercultural understanding, empathy, and mutual respect required.
  • Demonstrated experience in integrating Aboriginal knowledge and teaching methods required.
