About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Category Manager to join our team at Unified Purchasing Group (Canada) Inc. in a dynamic role that will drive strategic procurement and supply chain management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the procurement process for assigned categories, including processed protein, to ensure the best combination of quality, cost, and delivery.
  • Develop and execute buying and distribution strategies for assigned categories, leveraging industry standards and supplier evaluation practices.
  • Lead supplier discussions and negotiations to achieve optimal pricing, quality, and service levels.
  • Conduct regular business reviews with suppliers to ensure alignment with company goals and objectives.
  • Manage supplier performance and maintain credible value-driven relationships.
  • Oversee the Tariff Rate Quota (TRQ) process to ensure smooth operations and minimize risks.
  • Stay up-to-date with market trends and maintain accurate knowledge of materials and costs.
  • Develop contingency and risk mitigation strategies to ensure business continuity.
  • Prepare and present reports to stakeholders, including the Board of Directors.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement and information sharing.
Requirements
  • Community College Diploma or University degree in Business or equivalent work experience.
  • 5-7 years' experience in a similar capacity, preferably in the food manufacturing or food service industry.
  • Experience in the Food Services Industry, with a specialty in processed protein, including sourcing, supply chain management, and market trends.
  • Actively working towards SCMP – Supply Chain Management Professional, SCMA or equivalent.
  • Intermediate to Advanced computer skills with the entire Microsoft platform.
