Position Overview

As a Trade Finance Consultant within the Guarantee and Standby Letter of Credit (LC) Department at National Bank, you will serve as a key resource in offering specialized advice and drafting various types of guarantees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert guidance on guarantees such as bids, performance, advance payment, and financial guarantees.
  • Utilize your coaching abilities and extensive experience in trade finance products to positively influence clients and partners.
  • Seek necessary credit approvals from relevant authorities and/or Export Development Canada.
  • Manage inquiries through the dedicated phone line.
  • Engage in client discussions alongside Account Managers to clarify our services and assist in transaction structuring.
  • Mentor junior team members, fostering their professional growth.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments and ensure compliance with internal regulations for all transactions.
  • Maintain effective communication with the sales team.
Team Structure

In the Guarantee and Standby LC sector, you will collaborate with a team of 12 professionals, reporting directly to the Manager of the Guarantee and Standby Letter of Credit Department. This team is part of the broader Trade Finance Expertise Desk, which also encompasses Documentary Letters of Credit and Documentary Collections, as well as a Back Office team with whom we work closely.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor's Degree related to the sector with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or a Master's Degree with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in an advisory capacity within International Trade, particularly with trade finance products such as Guarantees, Standby LCs, and Documentary LCs.
  • Familiarity with Trade360 is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
