Job Description

Role Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Trade Finance Specialist to join our Guarantee and Standby Letter of Credit Department at National Bank. As a Trade Finance Specialist, you will be responsible for providing guidance and expertise in trade finance products, including guarantees and standby letters of credit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and provide feedback on proposed templates of texts related to trade finance products
  • Seek approval from relevant authorities for trade finance transactions
  • Provide guidance to clients on trade finance products and services
  • Participate in calls with clients and account managers to explain trade finance services and structure transactions
  • Process trade finance transactions within established delivery standards
  • Act as a coach to junior colleagues in the team
  • Verify demands for payments to ensure compliance with trade finance regulations
  • Verify trade finance transactions for risk assessment and internal compliance restrictions
  • Maintain good communication with the sales force

Team and Culture

You will be part of a team of 12 colleagues in the Guarantee and Standby Letter of Credit sector, reporting to the Manager, Guarantee and Standby Letter of Credit Department. Our team is part of the Trade Finance Expertise Desk, which includes Documentary Letters of Credit and Documentary Collections, as well as a Back Office team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree related to the sector and 4 years of relevant experience, or Master's Degree related to the sector and 2 years of relevant experience
  • CSDG or CDCS certification
  • Experience in an advisory role in international trade and trade finance products, including guarantees and standby letters of credit
  • Good knowledge of ICC brochures, UCP600, URDG 758, ISP98
  • Knowledge of SWIFT
  • Knowledge of Trade360
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
