Senior Energy Transmission Planning & Interconnection Engineer

Work Arrangement: FULLY REMOTE (Anywhere in the USA)

The Transmission, Interconnection, and Market Operations Teams play a vital role in supporting Project Development, Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC), and Origination efforts for an organization addressing next-generation challenges in the energy storage domain. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • The Senior Transmission Planning & Interconnection Engineer conducts transmission planning interconnection analyses to meet operational and development portfolio requirements.
  • The Senior Transmission Planning & Interconnection Engineer performs power flow, stability, and dynamic assessments using tools such as PSS/E, TARA, PSCAD, PSLF, and/or PowerWorld.
  • The Senior Transmission Planning & Interconnection Engineer is actively engaged in renewable energy and battery storage interconnection application modeling.
  • The Senior Transmission Planning & Interconnection Engineer develops, supports, and creates tools in Python, SQL, and/or MS Excel to automate the analysis of output data from the models.
  • The Senior Transmission Planning & Interconnection Engineer collaborates with renewable interconnection stakeholders (utilities, RTOs, ISOs, etc.) and project management teams.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, preferably in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems Engineering.
  • Experience in power flow modeling with PSS/E, PSLF, PSCAD, ASPEN, MUST, TARA, and/or PowerWorld.
  • Familiarity with economic transmission market planning and analysis tools such as PROMOD, GridView, UPlan, or Plexos is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of the transmission interconnection application process.
  • Understanding of electricity market policies and regulations related to interconnection and transmission planning.
  • Experience working with Independent System Operators (ISOs) and/or Regional Transmission Organizations (RTOs).
  • Proficient understanding of utility-scale renewable energy operations (Wind, Solar, Energy Storage, Battery Storage).
  • A solution-oriented mindset with strong communication and presentation abilities.
