About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Legal Counsel to join our team at Borea Construction. As a key member of our legal department, you will play a critical role in supporting our management and internal teams on various matters of a commercial and contractual nature.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review, draft, negotiate, and interpret various contracts, commercial documents, and notices related to construction projects.
  • Develop and update contract models and tools to facilitate the management and understanding of contracts by internal teams.
  • Advise management and internal teams on legal requirements and risks, as well as the conduct of business and operations to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Provide legal advice on dispute resolution and claims management using a proactive and practical approach focused on solutions and prevention.
  • Manage litigation, from time to time, in collaboration with external lawyers.
  • Manage structuring projects for the organization.
  • Provide training to internal teams.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Laws and member of a bar association in a Canadian province, being a member of a bar association in the United States is also an asset.
  • 7 years or more of experience in construction and/or business law within a recognized company or law firm, particularly in terms of drafting and negotiating contracts.
  • Excellent command of English, both written and oral, as well as good communication and popularization skills.
  • Adaptability and ability to work under pressure in an environment where meeting deadlines, quality of work, and customer satisfaction are paramount.
  • Knowledge of and/or interest in the renewable energy, engineering, and/or construction industry.
