Company Overview:
Federated Co-operatives Limited is seeking a dedicated Junior Human Resources Consultant to join our Business Support Center. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, detail-oriented, and excel in a dynamic workplace.

Position Summary:
Reporting to the Talent and Culture Advisor, the Junior HR Consultant will play a crucial role in supporting the Human Resources team, ensuring that HR services align with best practices and organizational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Human Resource Administration:

  • Manage the complete employee lifecycle, including preparing employment offers, promotion notifications, and termination letters, as well as coordinating new hire orientations.
  • Oversee the full recruitment process, from drafting job postings to conducting candidate screenings and reference checks.
  • Assist with matters related to labor relations and employee engagement.
  • Handle administrative tasks related to Employee Benefits.
  • Administer employee leave processes, including short-term and long-term disability management.
  • Maintain HR records, personnel files, and confidential documents, ensuring data accuracy within HR systems.
  • Provide guidance on HR-related inquiries from clients and department managers.

Retail Support Functions:

  • Offer insights on interpreting and applying company policies, collective agreements, and relevant legislation.
  • Support talent acquisition, onboarding, and orientation processes for new team members.
  • Ensure employee records are maintained in compliance with retention policies and legal standards.

Candidate Profile:
We are looking for individuals who are passionate about a career in Human Resources and possess:

  • A degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field, along with 1-3 years of relevant HR experience in a retail setting; a combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Strong understanding of full-cycle recruitment, onboarding, and employee retention strategies.
  • Knowledge of labor laws, human rights legislation, and related HR practices.
  • Familiarity with employee benefits and pension plans.
  • Experience with disability insurance processes.
  • Experience in a unionized environment and possession of a CPHR certification is advantageous.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
  • Proficiency in HRIS and ATS systems, as well as Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively across all organizational levels.
  • A results-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and adaptability to changing priorities.
  • A valid class 5 driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Team Collaboration:
You will work closely with the Human Resources team, contributing to a culture of collaboration and efficiency.
