Strategic Communications Manager

The Strategic Communications Manager will play a key leadership role in developing and implementing a comprehensive communications strategy for McMaster University. This role will be responsible for creating and executing a proactive and strategic communications plan that aligns with the university's goals and objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy that includes internal and external communications, events, marketing, and branding.
- Work closely with subject matter experts to communicate services and key messages to faculty, staff, students, and other key stakeholders.
- Review and update the university's website, social media presence, and other digital platforms to ensure consistency and accuracy.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key audiences, including faculty, staff, students, media, alumni, and community partners.
- Provide leadership in the implementation of the university's branding and marketing strategy.
- Act as a university spokesperson, as required.
- Develop and evaluate the effectiveness of communications projects and initiatives.
- University degree in Communications or a related field.
- 4-5 years of progressive experience in communications, public relations, or a similar position.
- Experience in social media and digital communications is required.
- Strong leadership, negotiating, and influencing skills.
- Proven ability to be analytical and intuitive with organizational problem solving.
- Sound judgment and demonstrated success in strategic planning, relationship management, and project management.
